Tamsin is co-founder of Wilsome. Her career in research has spanned digital journalism, community management, corporate communications, content strategy, and purpose-led communications in a diverse range of organisations. She has an MSc in Social Research Methods from University of Brighton.

Tamsin began her career as a market researcher in BMRB’s respected graduate trainee programme. After learning data analysis and qualitative and quantitative research skills from some of the most experienced people in the industry, she joined the pioneering online editorial team at the Electronic Telegraph (now better known as Telegraph.co.uk).

Tamsin went on to become editor-in-chief for start-up social network Dobedo during the first dotcom boom, before spending five years as editorial manager for the corporate communications team in the Home Office. Later she led a team of copywriters, journalists and content strategists at iCrossing. She founded Wilsome with Charlie Peverett in 2018.

She is also a trained mindfulness practitioner and has been supporting people with long covid with mindfulness courses since 2021.

What happens when we listen to the birds?

Do research methods impact on the wellbeing of people and our planet? Can we make a more positive contribution to the future if we are more attentive to how we do our research? What does non-extractive, “more than human” research look like?

If that sounds a bit jargony and scary - fear not. In this talk, Tamsin shares her journey into walking research methods, using a project to explore people's relationship with birds as a case study.

She’ll explore how we can design research to get better outcomes for the humans and other creatures we research with, the projects we're focused on and, ultimately the planet we're all living on. She’ll be unpacking:
